What started out as a square-shaped chronograph developed with architects and other creative types in mind went on to become strongly associated with '70s motorsport and is, to this day, probably the most famous watch ever to appear in film thanks to Steve McQueen and the 1971 racing classic Le Mans. Now 50 years old this model is a modern day design classic.
This example features a polished steel chassis and stark black dial, contrasted with a pair of white chronograph sub-dials. The entire assembly is mounted on a premium black alligator strap, maintaining the two-tone aesthetic while also adding a complex, natural accent.
The watch that we have today celebrates the final run of Monaco watches featuring the Caliber 12 ,Sellita-based movement with a Dubois-Depraz chronograph module, highly regarded for its performance and intricacy. this movement can be seen in action through the round exhibition porthole on the case's rear.
